Honiara is in Ruins

http://toabaita-authority.blogspot.com/ According to Johnson Honimae of the Government Communications Unit, China Town, the commercial heart of the Solomon Islands capital of Honiara has been left at the mercy of looters and arsonists. Already 90 percent of the buildings which housed among others, retail and wholesale shops, fast-food bars, hardware, furniture and outboard motor engine outlets have been burnt to the ground by protestors and looters since converging at Chinatown early yesterday evening. Police sources say the police have decided to abandon Chinatown because of the risk posed to the police personnel. Mobs and looters have been hurling rocks and bricks at passing patrol police vehicles.
