Wellington restaurant in liquidation

Much-loved Wellington Chinese restaurant Big Thumb is up for sale after it was put into liquidation for IRD debts yesterday. The Allen Street restaurant is a favourite among local diners in the CBD for its yum cha, dim sum, Sichuan and Cantonese dishes. Owner Laurence Chan told The Dominion Post he and the chefs would keep the restaurant running until a new owner was found. "The restaurant is keeping going until someone takes over. We are still working here until it is sold." Profitco liquidator Murray Allen will be managing the sale. He had not responded to calls at the time of writing.
