Betty Leung,

Betty Leung, of New Plymouth, received the Queen's Service Medal forservices to the Chinese community. Mrs Leung has been an active member of the New Plymouth community since she arrived from Hong Kong in 1997. She has acted as a volunteer interpreter for the Chinese community and is a member of the New Plymouth District Council’s International Relations Working Party. She is President of the Taranaki Chinese Association and a member of the China Friendship Society. She is involved with the Migrant Settlement Support Programme and has been a supporter of Women’s Refuge, a trustee of Taranaki Victim Support, a member of the Positive Ageing Council of New Plymouth, and has served on the Executive Committee of the Taranaki Justices of the Peace Association. http://gg.govt.nz/node/3126
